Stickers to promote the hobby

Stickers made by hobbyists have started to become popular.

Over the past few years, stickers have become increasingly important in the growing INQ28 and independent hobby scene. This is not a trend I would have anticipated, but with the prevalence of reusable water bottles, who does not want to have stickers from their favorite hobbyists to plaster on them? Whenever I attend a convention or narrative gaming event, everyone involved in the INQ28 scene is handing out their new stickers. Tim (@howlingmad_looping) has been doing his best to document the stickers created by the INQ28 scene with the 28 Community Sticker Archive, which you can find HERE!
With websites like Sticker Mule, it is now easier than ever to have your own stickers made. You just upload an image of your design, choose a size and shape, and decide how many you want, and pretty soon, you have stickers delivered to your door. It took my brothers and I awhile to get on board, but we eventually created some stickers!

Sticker 1: Between The Bolter and Me logo
Our first sticker was our Between The Bolter and Me logo featuring the biomechanical frog. Adam designed the logo, taking inspiration from the Adeptus Mechanicus skull emblem. He ordered the stickers through Sticker Mule in January of 2024 as die-cut stickers with a size 1.9"x2", and then another set in April of 2024.

The biomechanical frog logo for Between the Bolter and Me was used for our sticker.

Sticker 0: Dragged into Turbolasers
Why are we jumping backwards to Sticker 0? Before making the Between the Bolter and Me biomechanical frog sticker, Steve (@sovthofheaven) of Under the Dice fanzine and the hobby podcast Hive Scum made a sticker in 2023 for our podcast, Dragged Into Turbolasers. Humorously, the design is an image of Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) peeing on the logo of the Hive Scum podcast. It was designed to portray a fictionalized rivalry between our podcast and Hive Scum. To this day, people still think that we designed and produced this sticker. Disclaimer: Steve and everyone else from Hive Scum are friends of my brothers and I. There is no rivalry, even if we both have podcasts about the independent miniature gaming scene. Hive Scum is one of the only hobby podcasts that I consistently listen to, and if you are reading this post, you should too!

Sticker 2: Dragged Into Turbolasters, putting Hive Scum in its place
In late 2025, I decided that it would be humorous to create a new Dragged Into Turbolasers/Hive Scum rivalry sticker, and this time it would actually be me that designed it (and not someone from Hive Scum). I took inspiration from a boxed set of music by the California skate punk band Lagwagon. In 2011, Fat Wreck Chords released a set collecting Lagwagon’s first five albums called “Putting Music in its Place”, featuring an image of someone throwing a CD in the trash. I decided to emulate that design, but have the person putting the Hive Scum logo in the trash. I created the design in Microsoft PowerPoint in a few hours and ordered 100 rectangular stickers from Sticker Mule with a size of 2"x1". They arrived just in time to take to NOVA 2025 to hand out.

Sticker 3: Vastarian Aftermath
The most recent sticker was just designed by Adam to help explore the aftermath of our INQ28 narrative event, Vastarian: Dreams of the Pious. The new sticker is a modification of the logo Adam had designed for Vastarian, which featured a lighthouse projecting light. The new logo features the same lighthouse shattering, its Fresnel lens cracking. The new logo is first being shown in association with Eric’s entry to the interactive miniature art show Godling in New York City. Eric has a stack of the stickers to give out at the event!

All three of our stickers!

I am sure it will only be a matter of time before we create more stickers. We hope to see you at a gaming convention or INQ28 event to give you one of our stickers. And I would recommend you create some of your own stickers to promote your own hobby projects!
