Dragged into Turbolasers Episode 77: Chatting with Anvils of Konor about True-scale Space Marines and the state of the Horus Heresy community

One of Anvils of Konor's true scale Space Marines.

In this episode we are joined by Anvils of Konor, best known for his 30k Space Marine conversions. We have an excellent chat about a host of topics, starting with how he got involved in the hobby. He talks about how he goes about his conversion process and what encouraged him to start doing it in the first place. We also discuss the current state of the Horus Heresy community and what he thinks about gatekeeping and keeping the hobby a positive place for everyone.

  1. Great episode, as usual. I have always like Anvil of Konor's work so it was good to hear the story behind it. I thought the discussion on elitism was interesting. I don't know how I feel about it really. I guess using Primaris in a Horus Heresy setting would be like using Bundeswehr instead of Wehrmacht in a WWII game...it wouldn't be right and why would you? But it is a fine line to being off-putting to newer or less knowledgeable players. I think ultimately if you show them how fun it can be when you get all the elements "right" to create that immersive narrative...well, the results speak for themselves.

    1. Thank you for listening! Using Primaris marines in 30k is certainly a tricky subject, but I think it is just important that people are open and honest with others about the hobby.

    2. Absolutely. I also really agree with the sentiment that "elitism" is not a bad thing.. you just have to be careful not to put off newcomers/less-initiated.

Also I thought I should say that it is very obvious that all of your criticism of GW comes from a place of deep love for the universe. It's becuase we care so much that we get so upset! :)
