GorkaMorka: What Rebel Grot to convert next?!

More Rebel Grots to join Da Revolushun!

We just converted a Rebel Grot to follow the Red Gobbo we converted earlier this year. The process was fun and rewarding, improving a model we have loved for years. This led us to pull out all the other Rebel Grot models I could find, including a few grots and some of their vehicles at various stages of assembly. We wanted to share some photos and ask for input on which of the grots we should convert next!

GorkaMorka: Rebel Grot Conversion

The diminutive greenskins are spelling trouble...

Starting with the Red Gobbo, I began converting Rebel Grot models to build a mob for future games. When creating a mold for the Red Gobbo, I also made one for a classic Rebel Grot model holding two revolvers. Having made some copies of the model, I decided it was time to convert one of them, modifying their pistols to be of a more reasonable size!

GorkaMorka: Red Gobbo Conversion

For Da Revolushun!

Over the last few weeks, we have been excited about greenskins in various forms, from painting a longsnout, to discussing the upcoming editions of Warhammer 40,000 featuring new Ork models, to playing Space Gits. Sadly, our blog has not focused on the more diminutive grots and gretchin, despite our love for them, particularly the late 90s-era GorkaMorka grots. We realized we had an opportunity to change this when we found a resin cast of the Red Gobbo (a Rebel Grot special character from the GorkaMorka Digganob expansion) that we made when we started to create one-piece silicon molds. Resin is a lot easier to work with than metal, so we decided it would be fun to convert the Red Gobbo and showcase them here on the blog!

Conversion Corner: Ork Nob

Nikkit and Gorzag Gitstompa

It has been many years since I converted an Ork model; 2014 was the last time, with a Burna Boy conversion, and before that a Grey Knightz purifier. And while I did paint an old Tin Boy a few years back, it has been a while since I really did much with the orks. Recently, Games Workshop released a reimagining of a classic Games Day promotional ork nob originally sculpted by Brian Nelson. The new version, still based on some old GorkaMorka artwork, is called Gorzag Gitstompa (and a grot Nikkit). Luckily, we were able to get a copy of the model, and decided it would be a great opportunity to convert him a little, ending this long streak of not working on a Space Ork!

Tor Megiddo: Seqemose and Guardsman Vell

War in the Sun.

As of writing this, Tor Megiddo, a collaborative hobby event hosted by Alexander Winberg from Echos of the Imperium and Helge "Wilhelminiatures," is about to take place. The event sees a group of incredibly talented hobbyists building warbands and ramshackle vehicles to race across the sun-scorched ruin that is Tor Megiddo. Although we knew we were not going to be able to make it to the event, we wanted to create a few models to take part. Inspiration was not hard to come by for the project, with the setting’s parallels to GorkaMorka (and Mad Max), coupled with all of the incredible models being produced over the last few months (search #tormegiddo on Instagram a Twitter for a fraction of the excellent models that have been created). We decided that we wanted to create a pair of bounty hunters, one a grizzled Imperial Guard veteran, while the other a tall and wispy thin humanoid bird creature.

Tor Megiddo: scale tanks in 40k?

Find a more reasonable tank?

Those of you that frequent the Ammobunker forums, or follow Inq28 scene, might be aware of a new collaborative event called Tor Megiddo. In an event hosted by Alexander Winberg and Helge "Wilhelminiatures," a group of extraordinarily talented hobbyists are building warbands and ramshackle vehicles to race across the sun scorched ruin that is Tor Megiddo. While certainly conjuring images of Mad Max, the primary thing that came to mind when reading about the project was GorkaMorka (old GW skirmish game with Orks) and my early years in the miniature wargaming hobby. With memories of orks crashing rusted buggies and trucks together on the open sand, I decided that we needed to take part in Tor Megiddo in some way. With some thought, I realized it would be a great opportunity to explore a concept that I have been meaning to for quite some time, can scale historical tank models be used to build Warhammer 40k vehicles? Surely the blazing sands of Tor Megiddo would have a few tanks cruising around, alongside war rigs and motorcycles? Long before the rise of Games Workshop, with people building scale models of airplanes and tanks, particularly ones replicating vehicles from World War II. To see if using a scale model might work for 40k, I decided to build a Tamiya 1943 T-34 Russian tank. Read on to see what I learned!

INQ28 - Imperial Guardsman WIP

The 1997 Gorkamorka Digga Shaman. A really interesting model.
With the recent rumors that Games Workshop is planning to release a new skirmish game based around Inquisitors, I thought what better time to start work on some Inq28 models. Looking through the random collection of models I have laying around I rediscovered the now ancient Gorkamorka Digga Shaman. What an interesting model! I knew from the moment I laid eyes on him that he would serve as a base for a conversion. I am currently still deep in the conversion process, but thought people might want to see my current progress.
