A look back: Notable Hobbyists of 2022

Normally in January of each year we write a post about some of our favorite hobbyists who inspired us during the previous year. Time got away from us this year and it is already March! Despite this, we are happy to say the post is finally here! Like every year, there were countless hobbyists producing remarkable work, which made it difficult to acknowledge everyone we wanted to. Additionally, we purposely did not choose hobbyists that we featured in previous years, although many of them are still creating incredible work, so we would encourage people to look back on our selections from previous years!

A look back: Notable Hobbyists of 2021

Shortly after the turn of the new year, we reflected back on all we accomplished in 2021. Having finished this, we turned our attention to the more exciting topic of considering what hobbyists and artists inspired us most throughout 2021. Like in past years, there were an astounding amount of hobbyists producing fantastic work, which made it difficult to acknowledge everyone we wanted to. Furthermore, we purposely did not choose hobbyists that we featured in previous years, although many of them are still creating incredible work, so we would encourage people to look back on our selections from previous years!

A look back: Notable Hobbyists of 2020

Earlier this month, we looked back at all we accomplished in 2020. This is always a fun exercise, letting us consider how we evolved as hobbyists over the year. Even better, however, is to reflect on the hobbyists that inspired us during the strange and turbulent 2020. Like years past, we are always amazed by the quality of work being produced by the community, and wanted to showcase some that stood out to us. The sheer volume of impressive hobbyists makes it impossible for us to acknowledge everyone, but we wanted to focus on a few that really helped us through 2020. We intentionally did not choose hobbyists that we have featured in previous years, so we would encourage you to look back on our selections from years past, as many of them are still actively producing incredible work!

A look back: Notable Hobbyists of 2019

Earlier this month, we looked back at all of the models that we worked on over the course of 2019. And while this is always fun to consider how we evolved as hobbyists over the year, our favorite thing to reflect on is the hobbyists that inspired us during the year. We say it each time, but the quality of work being produced by the community keeps getting better and better. The sheer volume of impressive hobbyists makes it impossible for us to acknowledge everyone, but we wanted to focus on a few that really stood out to us during 2019. We intentionally did not choose hobbyists that we have featured in previous years, so we would encourage you to look back on our selections from years past (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014), as many of them are still actively producing incredible work!

A look back: Notable Hobbyists of 2018

Having reviewed our favorite models of the year, and looked back at our own work on Between the Bolter and Me from 2018, it is finally time for our last annual recap post, highlighting some of our favorite hobbyists of 2018! Like each year before it, it seemed like the quality of work put out by the community was the best it has ever been. Due to this, there is no way we could list all of the people who created excellent models. Instead, we are going to focus on a few hobbyists that really inspired us to keep creating models throughout the year! If you do not see someone on the list that you feel should be, we encourage you to look at some of our previous years (2017, 2016, 2015, 2014), as we have featured many fantastic hobbyists over the years, many of whom are still producing excellent work!

A look back: Notable Hobbyists and Blogs of 2017

2017 has come and gone, and we have reviewed our favorite models of the year, and also summarized our own work on Between the Bolter and Me. To truly wrap up 2017, however, we have the third and most exciting part of the yearly recap posts: highlighting some of our favorite blogs and hobbyists! It was a fantastic year, filled with so many talented hobbyists that it would be impossible to name them all. Instead we decided to showcase a small selection of blogs/hobbyists that kept us motivated throughout the year. We made special effort to focus on ones we have not featured previous years, but would highly encourage you to look at our favorites from past years, as many continue to produce stellar work (2016, 2015, 2014)!

A look back: Best Blogs of 2015

We have already discussed our favorite model releases and our work over the course of 2015, but my favorite part of each year is seeing what interesting miniatures that the community creates!  I spend more time than I should each day browsing the internet, looking for little converted soldiers.  If you are reading this blog, you likely do not need me to tell you about how fantastic this year has been for the hobby.  Instead, I will show you some of the blogs and models that stood out to us at Between the Bolter and Me!  This list is not an all-inclusive one, and is listed in no particular order.  Sorry in advance if we forgot to include anyone on this list, the wealth of fantastic models and modelers is too great to ever list in just one place!

A look back: noteworthy blogs and conversions of 2014

Despite being a week or so into 2015, we here at Between the Bolter and Me are still being drawn back to the happenings of 2014. The gaming/hobby community has generated a wealth of breathtaking miniatures which will certainly serve as an inspiration to many of us for future projects. So before getting caught up in 2015 and all of the projects that it promises, we wanted to take the time to highlight some of the miniatures, blogs, and hobbyists that inspired us in 2014. While we can’t hope to cover all of the incredible artists in this post, hopefully, you will find something that you missed, or be reminded of some great models from 2014!
