Flames of Orion: Dark Spirit painted

Echoes Through the Empty Chambers of Heaven.

Earlier this month, we converted a model for Flames of Orion, a mech combat game that Steve (sovthofheaven) designed. It was an ideal time, as a Kickstarter is currently running to create a physical print of the book (which is available to download for free). It was also just in time for Under the Dice Fest, where we used the model in the Flames of Orion event, Beneath a Dying Sun!

Dark Spirit was painted to match the scheme originally devised and painted by Steve (sovthofheaven), the creator of the Flames of Orion.

Many silver components of the model received a layer of Black Templar contrast paint to provide a matte black protective finish.

I used oils and enamels to add weathering to the model's base and the gun barrels.

Dark Spirit stalks its next victim under the looming skyscrapers of Mega City New Mecca.

The ruins of Kalvitar stretch towards the horizon, promising riches to those brave enough to scavenge the wreckage.

Dark Spirit was captured on Kodak Tri-X 400 film.
