It touches on domestic and international issues that the Japanese government faced during the 20th century.[3] The film focuses on the post-occupation status of Japan, during which the country had economically, politically and technologically progressed under prosperous years without being involved in another war after the nation surrendered and was occupied by the Allied Forces after the end of World War II. Essentially in the film, Japan gets caught up in a false war orchestrated by a disillusioned veteran that ends with the country being occupied by the UN Peacekeepers and tensions just get ramped up thanks to this veteran.

In my opinion, it really is the best of the three films. However, seeing as you've mentioned Oshii and his involvement with the Ghost in the Shell films, you'll find a lot of similar themes in the first Patlabor film. :3Gretchinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04749813427652886687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901426566557963132.post-58755730111625942792020-07-28T18:02:26.156-07:002020-07-28T18:02:26.156-07:00Mamoru Oshii has had a hand in a lot of great thin...Mamoru Oshii has had a hand in a lot of great things. I know he directed the 2nd and 3rd Patlabor film. I only ever saw the 3rd film, which I liked. I recall it being a brooding detective story with the mechs thrown in for only a very short portion.

Oshii, of course, was behind the animated Ghost in the Shell films. And he wrote the script to Jin-Roh, which is perhaps my favorite thing he has done (at least that I have seen).Gregory Wierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04773235150604731258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3901426566557963132.post-35673749587753256682020-07-28T17:57:04.567-07:002020-07-28T17:57:04.567-07:00I do not think I ever saw the 2nd Patlabor film, b...I do not think I ever saw the 2nd Patlabor film, but really like the 3rd, Wasted XIII.
