Bishop: Between the Bolter and Me’s mascot

Bishop attempts the miniature hobby with the help of his two servo skull friends - by Pierre Mortel.

Longtime readers of this blog will know that it has had a frog on its logo since its foundation in 2013. As avid lovers of amphibians, we wanted to ensure that we incorporated a frog into the blog in some fashion, which resulted in Bishop the frog in our first logo, discarding one of Games Workshop’s useless bolt gun scopes (without having a proper stock on the bolt gun, it would be next to impossible to successfully use a scope). Over the years, Bishop has changed a little, namely he acquired some Adeptus Mechanicus approved bionics, and is now half mechanical! This change occurred in 2016, when we created a new logo for the blog along with one for our newly created podcast, Dragged into Turbolasers! In the last few years, we have started to design Christmas/holiday cards with Bishop and a frog servo skull doing various festive activities, developing the curious frog further. Most recently, however, we had the talented Pierre Mortel do some illustrations of Bishop doing various tasks and wanted to share them with everyone!

The logo of our podcast, Dragged into Turbolasers, shows a more detailed representation of Bishop.

  1. I always loved this part of your blogging, and now after seeing the new pictures, I really want to see a whole book about Bishop's adventures in the mode of "Frog and Toad are friends".

    1. That is a fabulous idea! We all loved the "Frog and Toad" series growing up (and still love it, he he).

  2. I too have always liked the strange mechanicus-frog logo (I have often wished I could think of something similarly cool for my own blog!) and the new illustrations by Pierre Mortel are great. I agree, we need a whole book now!

    1. Glad you you have always liked the logo! It is something that rarely comes up and I do not think about too much, but I sometimes wonder what people new to our work think about the inclusion of the frog, something not really seen in 40k.
